John Dreamer - Becoming a Legend

Wow, how long has it been? Almost a year. Actually more than a year from my last Project Inspiration picture. Oh well. As you might know, I was an exchange student for half a year and it was quite an experience. My life has changed a lot during and after it (e.g. broke up my boyfriend but found a new one), so I haven't been very active with this blog. I wrote a book and now I'm writing my second one. And hold your horses, no-one has published it yet. I hope someone someday will. I'm also drawing characters to the upcoming visual novel and game Legends of Unsung, you can find it on Facebook. Therefore, I've been quite busy, but I couldn't leave this project behind.

I believe this is the start of an epic adventure.
When I heard Becoming a Legend, I instantly thought of this kind of a scenery. The problem was that I've actually never drawn proper sceneries, so it was quite a challenge. I never gave up with the idea and here it now is. I used ink and coloured pencil in this one, I also found that I have a grey pencil, yay, so there's no normal pencil here.

This was the eighth drawing in the Project Inspiration series, two more to go. So, if you wish to see my interpretation of a song, name one in the comments or just leave a link below. Mind you, I'll draw the first one mentioned in the comments, so be quick.

P.S. Quick project, my ass. Well, it will get going from here a bit faster, I promise.

Mass Effect 3 OST - Dream

Here again! This time from Germany. I am terribly sorry I haven't been posting anything here in a while but I have had some problems with my internet and also in my personal life. However, for you, I have drawn a new picture. It has been ready for ages, my internet just sucks.

The seventh drawing in the series of music inspired pictures is here. It's very white and I was pretty worried it would look very grey and dirty in this picture but it turned up better than I expected. It's a bit dark, but you may thank the camera for it. I really liked drawing this song and I think I'm beginning to like this abstract way of drawing. In this song I heard the feeling of calmness and frost, so I drew left it quite white.

I used pencil and coloured pencil in this drawing. It was very interesting to draw without ink this time. Mind you, the silhouette is made with pencil and rubber, better known as an eraser. So, I kind of sketched it out of a mass of grey. I've never done it before and it was extremely interesting.

Here you can listen to this most calming piece of music.

So, dearies, now that my internet is just working, what shall I draw next? As a reminder, I'll draw my impression of the first song mentioned in the comments of this update, so make haste.

P.S. Sorry, if my English sucks, I've been talking mainly in German for a while.

It's so cold

Bring me the horizon - Don't Go

Fly, bird, fly
Hello, hello, hello. I'm terribly sorry that I haven't been writing. I have had some schoolwork to finish and some matters to be arranged for I am going to go abroad as an exchange student quite soon. In 21 days I'll be in an aeroplane. Well, almost...

Anyway, to get this update going, I will present you the sixth picture of Project Inspiration. Actually one of my friends challenged me to draw an abstract picture so I decided to try it. I have never really been good with animals but I still decided to draw a mechanical bird to this one. It came out rather well. I was actually quite surprised that I could draw a bird, so if there's anyone who specializes in bird anatomy, please don't crush my feeling of content.

Because in every abstract picture there's bound to be interpretations, I shall tell you that the bird is actually a reference to H.C. Andersen's fairytale The Nightingale. If you don't know the story, here's some information for you. So, when you listen to Don't go, you can decide what the rest of the picture means.

The song you might wish to analyze can be found right here.

I am very sorry that I could not include some of the songs I was proposed but I have a policy with this project: the first song commented in the newest update of this project is the one I will draw. Although the songs proposed are all very good. So, what is the next song I shall draw?

Vistlip - Sindra

The dark side of humans... and it looks like Cthulhu?
Number five of Project Inspiration is here! Forgive me for taking this long but I had some serious issues with this picture. Oh dear that sounded harsh... "serious issues"... My point is that this song reminded me, for some reason, of an anime called Dead Note. I did not wan't to draw a picture of the characters of the series, so I really had to listen to this song over and over again. I actually already drew a picture to this song but before I could put any ink on it, I decided to draw it all over again. Now I'm not sure what to think about this picture. The dark side of the girl looks like a mixture between a heartless (from Kingdom Hearts) and Cthulhu (for more information, read H. P. Lovecraft's books). Perhaps I will never have anything but mixed feelings of this picture. Nevertheless, I am quite proud of the amount of colours I have used in this picture. I have never been good with using colours but I'm slowly getting there.

In this picture I used ink, coloured pencils, and crayons. I have decided to buy more crayons because I don't have to keep sharpening them all the time. I have also used my black ink faster than I've expected, so I really have some shopping to do.

My source of inspiration.

Five down, five to go. What shall I draw next?

Tori Amos - Winter

A Creature of  Winter, presumably an elf.
Oh, what a little cliché this picture number four of Project Inspiration is. Anyhow, I decided to draw a cliché picture because Winter, as a song, brought this image to me. I have actually wanted to make a cosplay like this for ages.

I used ink and coloured pencil in this picture. The trees are made with ink and a new thing for me in this picture was that I used more than just black when drawing the outlines of the trees. As you can see, the farthest trees are made by using a light grey where as the tree in the front is made with black.

I hope someone else will be inspired by this song aswell.

What to draw next, you decide. Please, comment your recommendations.

Ladytron - Predict the Day

Machine Spirit, as it was named by my boyfriend.
I find this a very good project for one gets to know more and more splendid songs. The moment I heard Predict the Day I thought of something very machine like, an android, a cyborg, something like that. And before any of you burst in with a commentary of the differences between androids and cyborgs, yes, I do know the difference. However, I ended up sketching a woman attached to something and started to think of cords, lots and lots of cords. I tried to draw hair to this lovely lass but I wasn't happy with any of the hairstyles I came up with, so I decided not to draw hair at all. Same happened with the eye brows. I am actually quite happy with the result, since I have never drawn a cyborg before. I remembered some of my friends' drawings of cyborgs and they were the other one of my main sources of inspiration.

I used both ink and coloured pencil in this picture. The woman is completely made with ink but the cords are coloured with coloured pencils, as is the very light shade of blue in the background. One can't even see it. Oh well... This time I can't even blame it on the scanner for I took a picture of this with my camera. Oh, and my boyfriend invented a name for the drawing: Machine Spirit. This might have something to do with Battlestar Galactica, which we have been watching for quite a while.

Here you can find the song behind the picture.

So many songs, only seven more pictures to go. Please, feel free to comment and suggest more songs for me to draw. Remember to be quick for I shall draw the first song commented in the newes post of this project.

砂月-Satsuki- - In a Lucid Dream

Light as a feather.
Project Inspiration continues with a song called In a Lucid Dream. Quite a simplistic picture I would say. When I listened to the song I instantly thought of a red ribbon and I came up with a concept of a girl with a ribbon. I could have drawn something very complex because in a dream, especially a lucid dream everything is possible. However, I decided to do something more simplistic because the song, to me, seems quite serene and simplistic. It doesn't need any fancy things to be beautiful, nor does my picture. A new thing in this picture is that I sketched it with a pencil but the finished work is all made with ink. Perhaps I should start to use ink more because my coloured pencils are getting very short. Or then I could just nuy new ones. Oh well...

My source of inspiration, if you wish to listen to it.

Please, leave a comment on what I should draw next.
